EXCLUSIVE Monrovia Organic Soils

Each Monrovia Soil and Organic Fertilizer contains 12 strains of endo and ecto mycorrhizae. Mycorrhizae are fungi that form a symbiotic relationship with plant roots. They provide a bi-directional transfer of nutrients to the plant root--carbon to the fungus. In nutrient-poor or moisture-deficient soils, nutrients taken up by the mycorrhizae can lead to improved plant growth. As a result, mycorrhizal plants are better able to tolerate the vagaries of Mother Nature better than are non-mycorrhizal plants. Since these plants are more efficient, they grow better and bigger and can have better yields as well.

This is the same exclusive blend that is used to grow Monrovia’s award-winning plants. These fungi increase the surface absorbing area of roots 10 to 100 times thereby greatly improving the ability of the plants to utilize the soil resource. Mycorrhizal plants use less water--up to 30% less, because they are more efficient. They are also more likely to be drought and salt tolerant.
